100 Days and Counting
Hello Day 100.
This morning my weight was 138.4, which makes my BMI 23.8.
A BMI of 23.8 is considered in the "healthy" range, although on the higher end of the range that appears to extend from 18.5 to 24.9. To achieve the low end of the healthy range, let's say a BMI of 19.5, my weight would need to drop to 114 pounds, or a weight loss from today of about 24 pounds. My goal is 120. I've actually been working on this goal for a while. Early last December 2024, my weight was 162 pounds and my BMI at that time was 27.8, which was on the higher side of the overweight range.
Since 12/2/24, I've been trying to get my health back on track and make food choices in line with my values. One of my values that I have had for a long time but for some reason struggled to make decisions consistent with, is being vegan. Towards the end of last year I decided enough was enough, I was in my early 50s and it was way past time to live life in accord with my deep value system. I decided 12/2/24 would be the day I started being vegan for the rest of my life.
I also started eating healthier. It's totally possible to be an unhealthy vegan, which I'm sure to write more about as we go along. For the four months following 12/2/25, I readily lost weight and started feeling better. I dropped down into the lower 130s by late April. But, I've lingered in the 130s ever since, ever inching from the lower 130s to the upper 130s as I started binge eating processed foods here and there and then more frequently and for longer periods of time. I've been trying to get myself back on track for months when I came across the 100 day challenge.
I came across that challenge mostly out of wanting to journal consistently for 100 days. Then, I realized that 100 days is about all that's left of the year since I started my weight loss healthier journey on 12/2/24. So, it's time to kick it back and gear and reach my 120 goal over the next 100 days.
Now, keep in mind that today's weight of 138.4 is a bit of water weight and such from binge eating over the past four days. Just four days ago, my weight had been down around 135 and yesterday it was just 136.2. So, don't be surprised by tomorrow's number after shedding some of the bulk, salt and water weight.
Today I started with a half vitamix of water, frozen lemon cube (homemade vitamix full lemons), one package of Organic Girl's Super Greens, a scoop of alma powder, a few dashes of cayenne pepper, and some frozen strawberries and mango. For lunch, I had a homemade bean burger, some steamed frozen green beans, and 1/2 cup of rice. I've also had a little bit of coffee with homemade chocolate soy milk. Not sure yet what is on tap for dinner. Update: for dinner I had some of the curry spiced mixture of garlic, red onion, cauliflower, peas, green beans, sweet corn, and chickpea that I made earlier in the day. I also had a cup of previously made and frozen butternut squash only seasoned with cinnamon. I think I also had some microwave popcorn (plain, no oils or anything) and four medjool dates.
